What is WFI all about?

And you are…

I probably should introduce myself…my name is Josie Leung. I’m one of three staff members working with WFI. A board of directors completes our core leadership team.

WFI board & staff

l-r: martin, roy, byron, me, scott, and matt; mia: chris and dave

What is your role with WFI?

The official title of my role with WFI is “Global Impact Coordinator.” Sounds impressive, doesn’t it? But don’t be fooled! Even with all the leadership implications, my main purpose is to follow God. The core function of my role is to listen to His heartbeat for the nations and follow His rhythm and lead. It means I spend my days trying:

  1. to discern where and how He is wanting to use music and other artistic expressions of worship to break down spiritual barriers and
  2. to facilitate opportunities for His followers to do just that.

How did you end up here?

I only have enough space here to tell you God led me through a string of seemingly unrelated life experiences — from the dreaded piano lessons every Asian child must endure to a “random” friendship connection with a mission-minded SE Asian to an internet search result — and has been consistently disrupting my comfortable beliefs about who He is and how He works to leave me hungry for what He created me to be and do. It’s a long and on-going story, but it is definitely His story. For now, let’s just thank God for His perfect plan and timing. :) Other than those moments I can almost tangibly sense the presence of God, I don’t think I’ve ever been more satisfied than I am in this position. It is the perfect combination of what He has given me in gifts, skills, and experiences.

Team Nehemiah

Team NehemiahWorship Foundations International is inspired by Ezra 3.10-11. When the foundation of the temple had been laid, all the people couldn’t help but stop to praise God with everything they had.

Nehemiah was a contemporary of Ezra. He had the privilege of building the wall that surrounded Jerusalem and the temple of the Lord. Nehemiah and his team weren’t priests or ordained ministers; they were faithful worshipers of the Lord Almighty. They fearlessly honored Him by both building the work and defending it (Nehemiah 4.13-14).

Thank you for being a part of my Team Nehemiah. Because you fearlessly build this work by giving and defend it with your prayer, I am freed spiritually and materially to pour more of my life into mobilizing more and more musicians to become more and more like Jesus.

Where we stand today: 60 people! Only 940 more to go...

Team Nehemiah trusts in the God of Isaiah 60.22 to multiply each person by 1000. Whether measured by senders, goers, or new disciples, our currency is lives, not dollars. Our first goal toward that is to multiply the efforts of my role by 1000 people who are

  1. building Global Impact with their gifts and
  2. defending Global Impact with their prayers.

We don’t just want to gather a crowd; we want to build His army. Besides giving and praying, please encourage like-minded others to join! Even a gift of $5/month or $60/year is helpful, but far more precious than that are your prayers. If your church, fellowship, or small group would like to band together to lend support, let me know. We’ll work together to get you some basic information or set up an appointment for me to come and share the vision. Regardless of our economy, the Kingdom of God is immune to recession when we combine forces for His purposes.

Volunteer opportunities

Definitely a case of "the more, the merrier!" This task is far bigger than I am. While God can do anything, He delights in using His people. If you would like to lend your time, experience, and energy to

  • a networking team (lots of facebooking involved)

or

  • an events team (includes both vision sharing and ministry time)

please let me know! For more details, click here. Contact links are below. Thanks!

Prayer Requests

Not mine...yours! It really is a privilege and honor for me to be involved through prayer with what God is doing in you. Just click on any of the links below to start a conversation!
